Frequently Asked Questions
We review submissions regularly, but response times vary based on the volume of submissions we receive. Generally, you can expect to hear back within 1-2 weeks if your submission has been selected for publication. If you haven't heard from us within two weeks, it's likely that your submission was not selected for publication.
There are several reasons why a submission might not be selected:
- We receive more submissions than we can publish
- The topic may have been recently covered by another contributor
- The submission doesn't follow our guidelines for length or content
- The piece may need substantial editing beyond what our resources allow
- The timing may not align with current news cycles or editorial priorities
Not being selected doesn't mean your perspective isn't valuable. We encourage you to try again with future submissions.
Yes, we accept submissions from representatives of organizations, non-profits, community groups, and businesses. However, the following guidelines apply:
- The organizational affiliation must be clearly disclosed
- The submission should represent a unique perspective, not just promote the organization
- Commercial intent should not be the primary purpose of the submission
- The submission must be signed by a specific individual who takes responsibility for the content
These submissions are typically considered for Guest Columns rather than Letters to the Editor.
To ensure a diverse range of voices in our opinion section, we generally limit publication frequency as follows:
- Letters to the Editor: No more than one per month per author
- Guest Columns: No more than one per quarter per author
- Community Commentaries: No more than one every two months per author
However, you're welcome to submit more frequently, with the understanding that we prioritize publishing voices that haven't been recently featured.
